Of course the first thing most people associate Tokyo with is Mt. Fuji. The highest peak in Japan overshadows the city. Our son lives in Colorado and the Rockies are magnificent, but the triangular vanilla ice cream cone shape of Mt. Fuji is unique.
Chongae and I are not excursion type people. Often times excursions are filled with people from Cleveland enquiring what time is it back home. (Why do we always pick on Cleveland?) With that said, we usually take off on our own and although that may be more challenging it usually affords us some pretty incredible up close views.
Another attraction Tokyo is known for are its Cherry Blossoms. Our daughter, Shannon, is a management consultant and her firm is headquartered in Washington, DC, so we have had the pleasure of joining her at the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival. It was too early to see Tokyo’s cherry blossoms in full bloom, but the cherry blossoms around DC’s Tidal Basin are pretty spectacular!
We are spending a few days in Tokyo so tomorrow we will up bright and early to explore this city of 37 million people!
As we got home late we were able to capture the appropriately named The Rainbow Bridge.
Thanks for travelling with us…
