After a hectic few days in Rio de Janeiro, it was nice to arrive at a laid-back beach resort. Some ports are designated “tender ports” because they are too shallow to accommodate cruise ships. This requires that the ship anchor offshore and you take a tender, a small vessel, the ones you see hanging off the port and starboard sides of the ship. They accommodate 75-100 passengers.

Armacos dos Buzios, or just “Buzios” as known to residents is a beautiful quiet little seaside town that sits on a peninsula. On one side, sandy beaches and calm waters. On the other, what is known as a “bravo beach”, a beach with great surfboarding waves.

This is a place where beautifully made sandcastles can be left unattended. I don’t know how long they would last on Florida beaches!

In case I thought I was the only one who discovered Bazios Brigitte Bardot the famous French actress was looking for a place to escape the paparazzi, so she came to Buzios. Many celebrities still escape to this Brazilian beach paradise. The town decided to erect a statue to Brigitte Bardot, the benefactor of the town’s popularity. If it’s good enough for Brigitte, it’s good enough for me.
