Sunday we were in Hong Kong, and it was Easter Sunday. This is a day of reflection and thanksgiving for Chongae and I. Many believe that Christmas is the most important celebration in Christianity, but Easter Sunday is the most important day for Christians because it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without Easter, Christianity wouldn’t exist as it does today. In fact, the apostle Paul wrote that without the resurrection, Christian faith would be meaningless.
Easter isn’t much of a holiday in Hong Kong, where fewer than 15 percent of the population are Christians. Most residents of Hong Kong follow Chinese traditional beliefs Buddhism, Taoism, and ancestor worship.
What Chongae and I do like about Hong Kong is its beautiful skyline. This city has more skyscrapers than any other on earth. With 569 buildings at least 150 meters (about 500 fee) tall, Hong Kong is far ahead of No. 2 Shenzhen, China, (468), and No. 3 New York City (324).

What is amazing is that in In Hong Kong, bamboo is used for scaffolding, even for the tallest of skyscrapers.

The best views of Hong Kong may be from the water; the city surrounds you. At night the city comes alive, with the lights on all those skyscrapers sparkling and reflecting off the harbor. They more than made up for the lack of stars, as high clouds obscured their light.

The best view was from the ships deck as lasers shot forth from the latest towers for a 10-minute show.

Even the Junk Boats that sail by in the harbor decorate themselves for the display.

Thanks for traveling with us.
